Local Program Activities

In addition to adoption and implementation of the District’s Model Stormwater Management Ordinances, local governments within the District are required to undertake a number of complementary stormwater management program activities included in the District-wide Watershed Management Plan:

• Improved enforcement of local laws, regulations and ordinances through a local environmental judiciary.
• More rigorous enforcement of erosion and sedimentation control regulations and requirements.
• Developing and implementing stormwater operations and maintenance activities including:
  • a long-term tracking and maintenance program for stormwater management facilities
  • an inventory of the local stormwater system inventory
  • a schedule for periodic inspections and maintenance for stormwater facilities
  • an emergency response strategy
  • policies for private stormwater facilities.
• Establishing municipal/county good housekeeping practices for local government facilities and operations.
